Reuters reports that the Senate approved Mary Schapiro's nomination to head the Securities and Exchange Commission. According to the Reuter's report, Ms. Schapiro's appointment was approved unanimously.
On December 18, 2008, immediately following the announcement by the Obama transition team that Schapiro's name would be put forward as SEC Chair, the Forum's Executive Director, Susan Ferris Wyderko, sent an email to the Forum's members discussing the nomination and praising Schapiro's qualifications.
